My Profile
Allow me to introduce myself and give you some idea of my qualifications to safely navigate you around Port Stephens.
I live at Soldiers Point Marina on a House-Boat. For 26 years I have been sailing yachts of different sizes, during which time I have raced and cruised including overnights and have lived aboard for weeks at a time as well as steered by compass at night on trips between Port Stephens and Newcastle and Sydney.
As a joint venture between the two major sailing clubs in Port Stephens, I have been the coordinator/instructor of children and adults in sailing techniques over a number of seasons and have coordinated international sailing events organised by Port Stephens Yacht Club , sailed in the Port and offshore.
Since 1993 I have held Australian Yachting Federation - Sailing Master Qualifications, which allows me to examine and license other sailing instructors. I also have my Powerboat Rescue Certificate enabling me to conduct powerboat rescue courses and I currently run theory and/or practical courses in sailing and powerboat operations.
These certificates were issued by the Australian Yachting Federation and are recognised worldwide.
I have also held, since December 1995, a Certificate of Competency (Coxswain No. 510081), issued by Waterways Authority of NSW. This Commercial License entitles me to drive a boat 12 metres in length, power or sail, day or night, up to 15 nautical miles from harbour.
Further details of my sailing experience have been included below.
Looking forward to sailing with you soon.
